Bhumchu festival
This sacred water festival of Bumchu (Bum for vase and Chu for water) is held in Tashiding Monastery on the 14th and 15th day of the first month of the Tibetan lunar year (which falls sometime between February and March). This ancient ritual is one of the holiest Buddhist festivals in Sikkim and thousands of devotees visit the sacred celebration. Endless train of people can be seen from midnight until the next day waiting for their turn to receive the holy water. Devotees from
Nepal ,Bhutan and from different parts of India camp around the monastery with families and friends. A good number of makeshift shops come up catering to the thronging crowd along the trail to the monastery.
History
In ancient period around people started celebrating this Bhumchu festival in Tibet when king Trisong Dietsonin used toe reign the area .He was one of the three kings who used to spread the budhism religion .During this period Guru Padmashamva came to the kingdom and performed a shadhana .That time he spreaded the holy water from his holy vase and then that case was hidden as treasure and not found until 17 th century. But it was rediscovered by the incarnation of guru Padmashamva and since that time this Bhumchu festival was celebrated.

Day 1 Bagdogra to Gangtok
After you arrive at the airport ,our representative will greet you and will take you to Gangtok. It is the capital of Sikkim with crave mountains and large number of monasteries.You will take near about 4 hrs to reach here. Check in to the hotel .Dinner and Nightstay at Gangtok.

Day 2
Today early morning you will leave for Pelling via Tashiding Monastery where
Bhumchu festival is celebrated Vase opening Ceremony - This festival starts with the opening of the vase which was kept at the Tashiding monastery is opened. On this day Lamas predict the future for Sikkim for the upcoming year.
If the water outflows the vast then natural disaster can harm the place.If the water stays till the brim then it would bring prosperity and peace and if the water level is low then it would bring drought and famine. Night stay at Pelling -
Day 3
Early morning get ready to visit the monastery again where Spreading water ceremony and closing ceremony will held .On this day, the water in the vase is a sacred one .It brings good luck,prosperity and wealth .As very little amount of water is given out so long queue of devotee comes from the midnight . And after distribution is over again the vase is filled with water from the nearby holy river ,holy soil and different precious jewels which all are collected from different places of India and closed the vase with chanting mantras . Then the vase is kept till the next year. Night stay at Pelling.

Visit other places in Sikkim or leave for Bagdogra
